Creative Aging Teaching Artist Training

Lifetime Arts, the nationally recognized leaders in Creative Aging, will conduct training sessions for teaching artists across New York City. Teaching artists will be better prepared to respond to the growing demand for creative aging programming. Participating teaching artists will each receive a $100 stipend for attendance at the 4-hour workshop.

Areas of focus will include:

● Creative Aging research and exemplary programs
● Overview of SU-CASA | SU-CASA is a five-borough initiative of the New York City Council that brings artists and arts organizations to conduct residencies in senior centers. Last year, individual artist residencies were supported at six Staten Island senior centers. Successful applicants provided a minimum of 40 hours of arts engagement programming with a public component and received an artist fee of $4,500 plus a $1,000 supplies reimbursement.
● Impact of ageism
● Engaging older adult learners
● Best practices in designing Creative Aging programs
● Incorporating meaningful social engagement activities
● Cultivating strong partnerships with host organizations

The NYC Creative Aging Initiative: Advancing Creative Aging in NYC Through a Two-Year Program of Training, Evaluation and Advocacy for SU-CASA Partners.

Funded by The New York Community Trust and developed in cooperation with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department for the Aging, Lifetime Arts, Brookdale Center on Aging at Hunter College, and LiveOn NY, working together to strengthen creative aging programming in NYC through a robust set of services and resources for SU-CASA stakeholders.
